A German-Language Writing Retreat at Angiehof
Four days for your fictional story, with individual writing coaching, optional yoga and meditation, and space to work at a farmhouse in Bavaria.
Why it caught our eye
Two script-coaching sessions and a personal coaching session sit alongside independent writing time, so both the project and the person making it receive attention.
About this experience
At Angiehof in Viechtach, Sara Herbst and Beatrix Gienger welcome a small group of writers working on fiction. You might bring a screenplay, novel, short story, play or audio drama, from an early idea to pages that need shaping. The retreat alternates focused work, individual conversations and exchange with fellow writers. Meadows, woods and the rhythm of the farm offer a change of scene when you step away from your story.
What you can expect
You can arrive from 10:00 on the first day; the programme starts at 13:00. Across the stay, writing periods and free time alternate with two script-coaching sessions, one personal coaching session and group activities. Yoga or meditation is offered daily, with participation optional. The last session ends at 15:00 on the final day. The group is limited to seven participants. Horse-assisted coaching or riding can be booked separately at an extra charge; neither is required, and horse experience is not needed for the coaching.
Good to know before you go
The retreat is held in German and is for adults aged 18 or over. Current prices are USD 670 per person as a day guest, USD 703 with your own campervan, or USD 771 in a shared double room for three nights. The day-guest price excludes accommodation; campervan pitches have no water or electricity connection. Breakfast, snacks, water, tea and coffee are included. Lunch and dinner are extra: you can cook in the farmhouse kitchen, share the cooking or eat out. The source estimates about EUR 20 for self-catering or EUR 20–40 for restaurant meals. Deposits are partial payments. Booking closes on 20 December; cancellation terms are separate. Travel, airport transfers, insurance and paid extras are excluded. A shorter or longer stay is not offered, and there is no partial refund for activities you skip. The farm has horses, dogs, cats and chickens; please leave pets at home, or contact the hosts if you could not attend without yours. Solo writers are welcome.
