At Casale Artemisia near Capalbio, Maria Paula Medina and Erico welcome a small group into their countryside home for Christmas. Maria Paula teaches a changing blend of Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin yoga, alongside breath practice and silent meditation. Her approach makes space for different starting points, so you can arrive as a beginner or with an existing practice. The retreat combines time on the mat with meals prepared by the hosts and the surrounding Maremma landscape.
What you can expect
Check-in is from 14:00 on the first day, with a Yin and sound relaxation session before the welcome dinner. The sample Christmas programme includes morning breath practice, meditation and yoga; an excursion to a thermal river; creative reflection circles; a healthy biscuit workshop; and a special Indian dinner on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day includes a guided hike and an offering to Mother Earth. There is also free time, and the hosts can adapt the sample programme to your needs. Check-out is at 11:00 after the final morning practice and breakfast.
Good to know before you go
The private room for one is currently quoted at USD 1,551 for the stay. Five nights, three meals a day, water, tea, coffee, the listed practices and transport during the retreat are included. The deposit is a partial payment; the remaining balance is due on arrival. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets are catered for.
