7-Day Insight Vipassana Silent Meditation Retreat
A seven-day residential Vipassana retreat with five full days of silence, daily yoga and a plant-based Ayurvedic rhythm beside the Thames.
Why it caught our eye
A clearly held residential programme with an unusually transparent daily rhythm, named teachers and several current dates and accommodation choices.
What you can expect
Arrival is from 15:00 on day one and departure is at 11:30 on day seven. Noble silence runs from the first evening to the sixth evening. A typical day begins with a 04:30 wake-up, followed by sitting meditation at 05:00, meditative yoga at 05:45, another sit at 06:45 and breakfast, shower and work from 07:30. The later rhythm includes meditation instruction, alternating walking and sitting practice, interviews, lunch and rest, an evening drink and shower break, conversation or questions and answers, metta practice, a final walk and sit, and bed preparation from 21:00. Plant-based Ayurvedic breakfast and lunch are included, alongside hot showers, compost toilets, parking, nature time, a wild-swim option and sauna access on the first and final days.
