Attachment Repair: Reparenting & Parts Work

A professional training with Seaghan Coleman on attachment, empty-chair work and trauma-processing approaches.

Why it caught our eye

The empty chair gives a tangible shape to an abstract theme: how an adult self might relate to younger parts. Clinical examples connect that exercise with the wider therapeutic relationship.

About this experience

How can clinicians work with the care and protection a client did not receive? Seaghan Coleman explores that question in this online training for mental health practitioners. The teaching connects attachment theory with work involving adult and child parts, using clinical examples to make the approach concrete.

What you can expect

The programme follows three connected strands: reparenting within the therapeutic relationship, building an internal bond through empty-chair work, and processing attachment loss and grief. EMDR, a trauma-processing approach, is the main teaching lens; the organiser says the material can also be adapted to models practitioners already use.

Good to know before you go

For mental health practitioners working with complex trauma, attachment wounds or dissociation; no EMDR background is required. The organiser offers three continuing-education hours to eligible New York State licensees after successful completion. Full attendance is required, and there is no EMDRIA credit. Written cancellations qualify for a refund up to the day before the event. Contact the organiser about accessibility accommodations.
