Become a Bay Area Mentor: Online Information Session
Meet Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area online to learn what being a volunteer mentor involves, from regular time together to the matching process.
Why it caught our eye
The session makes the practical commitment behind youth mentoring clearer, helping you consider how regular friendship and support could fit into your life.
About this experience
A mentoring friendship can begin with something ordinary: sharing an ice cream, trying a new hobby or being there for a conversation. This online information session introduces the volunteer mentor role at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area and the steady commitment behind those moments. You will hear about the organisation’s programmes, volunteer requirements and matching process, with room to ask questions. The team is especially seeking Big Brothers around Antioch, Vallejo, Richmond, Oakland and Hayward. It is a chance to understand the role before deciding whether to apply.
What you can expect
An interactive online introduction to the programmes, volunteer requirements and matching process, with questions for the Big Brothers Big Sisters team.
Good to know before you go
The information session is free. Register through Eventbrite for joining details. Becoming a mentor is a separate process: volunteers must be at least 21 and commit to at least one year. Screening includes a background check with a variable processing fee; attending this session does not guarantee a match.
