Buddhist Bell Sound Bath in Los Angeles
Listen to Japanese Buddhist bells in the Rissho Kosei-kai sanctuary, with meditation cushions provided.
Why it caught our eye
The bells connect the listening practice to the centre’s Japanese Buddhist tradition. Providing cushions and explicitly welcoming newcomers makes the setting easier to approach for a first visit.
About this experience
Take a seat among the resonant sounds of Japanese Buddhist bells. This sound bath at Rissho Kosei-kai brings an hour of listening and meditation into the centre’s sanctuary. Newcomers from every background are welcome.
What you can expect
You will meditate with the sounds of bells made by Japanese artisans. The centre says one bell is more than a century old. Rev. Dr. Kyohei Mikawa and Yari Tavarez alternate as guides and sometimes lead together; the source does not name one guide for this date. Meditation cushions are provided, and you may bring a blanket and eye mask.
Good to know before you go
Doors open half an hour before the session. Parking is free. Under-16s must attend with a parent or legal guardian. The Eventbrite ticket is USD 23.18 and is non-refundable. The centre advertises free entry for RKLA members; ask it about member booking. Its public page describes the standard contribution as a USD 20 donation.
