The Dalai Lama’s Path — Live Photography Lecture by Manuel Bauer — Winterthur
At gate27, Manuel Bauer presents a live photographic lecture shaped by 35 years accompanying the Dalai Lama on private occasions and more than 50 journeys.
Why it caught our eye
The Winterthur date brings Bauer’s unusually sustained photojournalistic access into an intimate theatre setting, connecting personal encounters with the wider history of Tibet and exile.
About this experience
Swiss photojournalist Manuel Bauer has accompanied the Dalai Lama since 1990, including on more than 50 journeys. In this live illustrated lecture, he follows the story from Tibet and exile in India to refugee communities, Himalayan valleys and international appearances. The programme also considers Tibetan Buddhism, ritual, secular ethics, compassion and present-day political questions. Bauer’s sustained access gives the evening the perspective of a long-form photographic record rather than a general spiritual workshop. This Winterthur performance is presented in German by Explora Events AG.
What you can expect
The gate27 programme combines projected photography with Bauer’s first-hand narration about Tibet, Himalayan journeys, refugee communities and international appearances. It runs for 2 hours 15 minutes including an interval, with doors opening at 18:45.
