Real Food and Metabolic Health: PHC Scotland Conference

Explore food, metabolic health and emerging research through talks, lived experience and audience questions in Edinburgh.

Why it caught our eye

Research talks sit alongside personal accounts and open questions, giving visitors several ways into the subject. The closing discussion offers room to ask how the speakers reached their views.

About this experience

Bring your questions about food and health to a day of talks and conversation in Edinburgh. Public Health Collaboration’s third Scottish conference brings practitioners, researchers and people sharing lived experience into the same room. The programme explores metabolic health, meaning how the body uses and manages energy, through the speakers’ perspectives on diet and research.

What you can expect

Morning talks explore diabetes, menopause, ultra-processed food and different ketogenic diets, which sharply restrict carbohydrates. A panel brings in personal experiences of eating a lower-carbohydrate diet. After lunch, the focus moves to evolutionary diets and current research on metabolism and mental health, before a speakers’ panel opens the conversation to audience questions.

Good to know before you go

Bring your own lunch or buy something nearby. Tea and coffee are available, with a small optional donation requested separately from the ticket. The venue is on bus and tram routes, around a 12-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley. The source offers refunds up to seven days before the event.
