Fungi-Focused Foraging at Horsenden Hill
Walk through Horsenden’s woodland and meadows with Flavour Fred, exploring seasonal fungi, wild flavours and the stories behind them.
Why it caught our eye
The walk puts careful identification beside flavour and folklore. Comparing edible ingredients with dangerous counterparts gives the tasting element a clear educational context.
About this experience
Look a little closer at the woodland around you. On this fungi-focused walk at Horsenden Hill, Flavour Fred introduces wild ingredients through their flavours, history and folklore, with time to notice the plants and fungi along the way.
What you can expect
You’ll explore identification techniques, responsible foraging and soil health, comparing seasonal ingredients with dangerous lookalikes. Preservation ideas and prepared tasters connect what you see with ways to use wild flavours at home. Afterwards, the organiser sends detailed notes, links and reading suggestions and remains available for questions.
Good to know before you go
Anyone under 18 must attend with a parent or legal guardian. Tasters are prepared from a private site; nothing is gathered for consumption during the walk. Paid parking is available. Refunds are offered up to seven days before the event.
