Holding space when someone feels overwhelmed

Jasmine introduces practical ways to recognise overwhelm and support others, with optional somatic practice and time for questions.

Why it caught our eye

A clear three-part structure leaves room for understanding, gentle exploration and questions, with an explicit choice about how much you participate.

About this experience

How can you respond when someone becomes overwhelmed, shuts down or disconnects? This free online introduction explores trauma-informed ways of supporting others without trying to fix their experience. Jasmine considers stress responses, the window of tolerance and how your own state can influence the space you hold. It is open to anyone curious, including yoga teachers, coaches, bodyworkers and wellbeing professionals.

What you can expect

The 45 minutes are divided into three parts: 15 minutes of explanation, 15 minutes of gentle somatic practice, and 15 minutes for questions and an introduction to Jasmine’s 150-hour practitioner training. The practice is optional and adaptable. You can listen and observe, and you will not be asked to share personal experiences of trauma. No previous experience is needed.

Good to know before you go

This is a free standalone online session, with no obligation to join the longer training. Booking closes at the scheduled start on 18 November at 18:30 GMT. Registered attendees receive a replay afterwards; its access duration is not stated. Choose a comfortable place where you can sit or move gently. Comfortable clothing and a journal for notes may be useful.
