Yoga and Dhrupad Sound Retreat in the Allgäu Alps
A weekend of flowing yoga, breathwork and live Dhrupad music at Yoga Vidya Allgäu, open to beginners.
Why it caught our eye
The retreat pairs a clearly structured beginner-friendly yoga weekend with the rare chance to experience Dhrupad as a live contemplative practice.
About this experience
Move between gentle and more dynamic yoga sequences, breath-led meditation and generous pauses for rest. Ishtar Dobler guides the movement practice, while Dhrupad musician Amit Sharma brings voice and tanpura into a live concert and Nada Yoga Nidra sound baths. Dhrupad is a contemplative North Indian classical music tradition; here, its sustained tones accompany stillness and deep listening.
What you can expect
Arrive on Friday afternoon before the evening meal and opening meditation. Saturday combines morning meditation, yoga, pranayama, relaxation and an afternoon workshop, with mantra singing and teaching in the evening. Sunday follows a similar morning rhythm before a final workshop and departure around 3 pm.
