Botanical Lunch Tours: Mimêsis and the Herbarium
Use your lunch break to explore nature-inspired innovation or the botanical garden’s herbarium on a free Naturéum tour.
Why it caught our eye
One programme opens two ways of learning from nature: examining the ideas it inspires and looking at the plant collections kept for research.
About this experience
Look at the natural world through two different botanical visits in Lausanne. Naturéum’s lunch programme explores how living things and minerals inspire invention, and how a herbarium preserves plant specimens for study. Each free visit stands on its own.
What you can expect
The November visit explores Mimêsis, an exhibition asking how nature inspires creativity and technical innovation, and how those inventions relate to sustainability. The December visit turns to the herbarium, a collection of more than a million specimens, with curator Anne Dubéarnès. Meet in the botanical garden’s welcome area; the programme includes outdoor activity.
Good to know before you go
Free, with no registration required. Meet at the botanical garden’s welcome area. The garden is not independently accessible to people with reduced mobility; check access needs with Naturéum. Pets are not admitted.
