Nature Conservation Work Day at Biotop Am Stausee
Join a Saturday morning habitat-care session in Birsfelden, helping protect the pond, meadow, dry-stone features, hedges and wildlife shelters.
Why it caught our eye
The work is concrete and local: a few hours of shared habitat care support a nature reserve that depends on volunteer hands.
About this experience
Spend a practical morning caring for the varied habitats of Biotop Am Stausee with the Natur- und Vogelschutzverein Birsfelden. Tasks may include clearing overgrowth around the pond, stone piles and dry-stone wall, tending the wild-bee structure, creating hedgehog winter shelters, removing invasive brambles and cutting back hedges. The shared aim is to keep this small urban nature reserve ecologically valuable after a hot summer.
What you can expect
A 3-hour outdoor volunteer session meeting at the Froschbrunnen. The exact work is divided across several habitat-maintenance tasks, with a shared morning break organised nearby.
Good to know before you go
For anyone willing to help with hands-on outdoor conservation work. Bring weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes and work gloves. Register by Thursday 29 October to help the organiser plan refreshments; spontaneous participants are also welcome on Saturday.
