Path of the Modern Bodhisattva: Online Course with Mushim Ikeda
Four online meetings with Mushim Ikeda on Buddhist practice, compassionate action and commitment in everyday life.
Why it caught our eye
The course brings meditation and social engagement into the same conversation, with four meetings to explore how a broad spiritual commitment can become everyday practice.
About this experience
How do you keep practising compassion when the world feels difficult? Mushim Ikeda explores this question through the Bodhisattva teachings of Mahayana Buddhism. A bodhisattva is someone who commits to awakening for the benefit of all beings. This course connects that aspiration with embodied practice, joy and action in the situations we live through together.
What you can expect
Join a four-meeting course with meditation, Buddhist teachings and interactive exercises. Meditation instruction is provided for beginners. The programme offers room to explore how a commitment to collective liberation can take shape in daily life. You may attend this class series without taking Buddhist vows.
Good to know before you go
One registration covers all four 2-hour meetings on Zoom, with closed captions. The teachings are offered through voluntary donations, known as dana; a no-payment option is available when you cannot contribute. Eventbrite currently lists registration options from USD 0 to USD 210.99. A later vows ceremony is a separate event; taking vows requires both class series and the teacher’s permission. Eventbrite lists refunds up to seven days before the course starts.
