Trance dance, cacao and sound in Cologne

The time for stillness and a closing circle gives the movement somewhere to land, rather than ending as soon as the music stops.

At geschmeidig. in Cologne, this evening invites you to turn your attention inward through movement and music. The centrepiece is almost two hours of blindfolded trance dance: free movement without choreography, with room to stand, rest or lie down as you need.

An opening circle explains the shared setting and how to use the blindfold. Cacao and mantras lead into the dance, with changing rhythms and live instruments. A simple breathing technique is offered as an optional tool, rather than a separate breathwork session. The evening settles into a sound journey, silence and a sharing circle where listening is welcome too. No previous experience is required.

Tickets are EUR45–50. Bring comfortable layers, a blindfold or sleep mask if possible, and water; mats and blankets are provided. The organiser describes this as physically and emotionally intense and asks for basic physical and psychological stability and the ability to care for yourself. It is unsuitable during an acute psychological crisis, psychotic or manic symptoms, or if altered states strongly destabilise you. Seek medical advice before joining if pregnant, living with epilepsy, relevant cardiovascular conditions or another condition affected by exertion. Cacao is optional and contains caffeine and theobromine; check medically if sensitive, living with relevant conditions or unsure about medication interactions. Contact the organiser beforehand about smoke, fragrance, allergy or respiratory sensitivities: Palo Santo, sage and Aqua Florida are used. The evening is alcohol and drug free.
