Monthly Breathwork Evenings in Bern
A 2-hour breathwork session in central Bern that moves from mindfulness and intention-setting into around 30 minutes of active mouth breathing, breath holds and a quiet closing phase.
Why it caught our eye
Sibylle does not rush straight into the intense breathing phase. The session begins with grounding and a personal intention, builds into a focused 30-minute practice, then leaves time to settle. We liked that balance of depth and care, especially the emphasis on each person choosing their own intensity.
What you can expect
Each evening opens with simple mindfulness and relaxation for breath, body and mind, followed by a guided exercise to settle on an intention or question for the session. The core is around thirty minutes of conscious, active breathing through the mouth, with regular breath holds and rhythmic music underneath. You stay in control throughout and can regulate the intensity yourself. Gentler breathing and relaxation bring it to a close.
Good to know before you go
Five evenings between August and December 2026, each 18:00 to 20:00: Friday 14 August, Friday 11 September, Thursday 8 October, Thursday 12 November and Thursday 10 December. Sessions are bookable individually. The venue changes. Most evenings are at Svarupa Cave, Postgasse 44 in the lower old town; the September session is at Yoga erleben, Holzikofenweg 20. Each date on the organiser's agenda names its own venue, so check the one you are booking. CHF 50 per session, two hours. A one-to-one session is also available at CHF 250 for 90 minutes. Taught in German. No previous experience is needed. Registration is binding, and cancellation is possible until 24 hours before; after that the full fee is charged. Breathwork is an active breathing practice, not a medical treatment. The organiser asks anyone with a blood disorder, heart disease, diabetes, circulatory problems, blood clots, asthma, cancer or bone disease to speak to a doctor first, and the same applies in pregnancy. Tell Sibylle at the start of the session so the techniques can be adapted for you. Breathwork can bring on dizziness, tingling or strong emotion. Go at your own pace, pause whenever you need to, and tell the facilitator beforehand if you are pregnant, taking medication or managing a heart or respiratory condition.
