Sanctuaries are usually closed to visitors, and the ones that open often turn it into a spectacle. This is the opposite: two hours walking the farm with the people who feed these animals every morning, hearing what happened to each one and being able to ask anything. The team asks you to cancel if your plans change so someone else can take the place, which tells you how small and how considered it is. Nothing is being sold to you — there is a donation tin, and that is the whole of it.

You gather in front of the farm at 14:00 and walk the sanctuary together for around one and a half to two hours. The people who run it introduce the animals living there, tell you how each arrived and what they need, and answer whatever you want to ask. Afterwards there is time to stay and talk. It is a working farm rather than a visitor centre, so you are outdoors and on uneven ground for most of it.

Saturday 5 September 2026, meeting at 14:00 in front of the farm. Allow one and a half to two hours. Free to attend. A donation box is available if you would like to contribute. Registration is required and places are limited — book through the form on the organiser's page. If you cannot come after all, the team asks that you cancel so another visitor can take your place. Wear clothes and shoes you do not mind getting dirty. The tour is held in German. By public transport: from Zürich, train to Hüntwangen-Wil then bus to Hüntwangen Dorf, arriving 13:50. From Schaffhausen, train to Rafz then bus to Hüntwangen Dorf, arriving 13:37. By car there are a few spaces at the farm; public visitor parking is a seven-minute walk away at Wolfhagstrasse 2 or Cholplatzstrasse 2, so allow extra time. The walk is outdoors on farm ground, which may not suit everyone — contact the organiser with any access questions.
