The UnTamed Women’s Retreat · Tulum 2027
The UnTamed Retreat is a six-day women’s retreat at Amaite Retreat outside Tulum from 27 February to 4 March 2027. Led by Alice Hong, it combines daily embodiment and Tantra practices with cenote and temazcal ceremonies, fire and water rituals, ecstatic dance, plant-based meals and five nights in private or shared jungle domes.
Why it caught our eye
What makes this retreat stand out is how fully the venue and programme are woven together. The jungle, geodesic domes, open-air temple, cenote and temazcal are not background decoration; each becomes part of how the six days are experienced. The published inclusions are also unusually detailed, making it possible to understand both the ceremonial depth and the practical level of comfort before applying.
What you can expect
The retreat follows a shared daily rhythm of embodiment practice, group circles and time in the jungle setting. Some sessions are inward and reflective, while others are more physical, expressive or ceremonial. Circles are held at Portal Amaite, an open-air temple on the property, with a hundred acres of jungle around it. There is a private cenote used for water ceremony and a traditional temazcal. Participants sleep in geodesic domes, shared or private, and meals are chef-prepared, organic and plant-based. The opening and closing are clearly held, and a post-retreat integration call is included after participants return home.
Amaite Retreat in the Tulum jungle
Amaite sits within 100 acres of jungle outside Tulum. Guests stay in air-conditioned geodesic domes and gather at Portal Amaite, an open-air temple connected by jungle paths. The setting also includes access to the cenote and ceremonial spaces used during the retreat.
Plant-based food as part of the experience
All meals are organic, plant-based and prepared through Amaite’s Dr. Green-certified wellness kitchen. The published menu style includes tropical-fruit breakfasts, grain and vegetable-based lunches, celebration dinners, cold-pressed juices, herbal teas, cacao and other ceremonial drinks.
Ceremonies and shared nights
The six days include a cenote purification ceremony, a temazcal sweat-lodge ceremony, fire and water rituals, ecstatic dance and evening Sacred Nights. These sit alongside the daily embodiment, Tantra and sisterhood work rather than being optional excursions outside the main programme.
Good to know before you go
27 February to 4 March 2027 at Amaite Retreat, in the jungle outside Tulum, Mexico. Check-in from 15:00 on the first day, opening circle at 17:00, and the retreat closes at 11:00 on the last day with a farewell brunch. From USD 3,800 for a shared room. A private room is USD 4,550, which is USD 750 more than sharing. The organiser's general FAQ quotes a different supplement, so it is worth confirming when you book. An early-bird rate of USD 3,800 less USD 300 exists for the first five places using a code, but that is a limited offer rather than the standing price. A USD 1,000 non-refundable deposit reserves a place, and the balance can be paid in three monthly instalments with a 10% fee. Included: five nights at Amaite, all meals, daily embodiment and tantric practice, cenote and temazcal ceremonies, fire and water rituals, ecstatic dance, a post-retreat integration call and a gift box. Flights and airport transfers are not included. Fly into Tulum (TQO, about 40 minutes) or Cancún (CUN, about 1 hour 45). The organiser opens a group chat beforehand so participants can share transfers. Amaite does not offer nights either side of the retreat. Women only, capped at 25 to 30 participants. No previous experience is needed. Taught in English. Women from 19 to 72 have taken part. Meals are organic and plant-based throughout. There is no cancellation and no refund; travel insurance covering cancellation and medical emergencies is recommended. If the organiser cancels, you are refunded in full. This is spiritual and personal-development work rather than therapy or medical treatment, and it does not replace psychological care. Sessions of this kind can involve exercises done with a partner or in a group, and material that is personal. Nothing is compulsory: you set your own limits, you can step out of any exercise, and consent is asked for before any touch. If you are unsure what an exercise involves, ask the facilitator before it begins.
Apply for a place
The booking process begins with an application, followed by a deposit or full payment once the place is confirmed. Shared and private dome options, payment plans and a discovery-call route are available through Alice Hong’s official retreat page.
